Meadow Walker took to Instagram on Thursday to tease a cameo in Uni’s forthcoming actioner Fast X, done in tribute to her late father, Paul Walker.
“The first Fast was released when I was one year old! I grew up on set watching my father, Vin [Diesel], Jordana [Brewster], Michelle [Rodriguez], [Ludacris] and more on the monitors,” said Walker in a message accompanying a shot of her in Fast X. “Thanks to my dad, I was born into the fast family. I can’t believe now I get to be up there too. With those who have been around to see me grow up.”
Walker went on to thank the film’s director Louis Leterrier for his “kindness, patience and support” — adding, “it feels like you’ve been part of the family since we started, I’m happy it’s just the beginning.”
She subsequently thanked producer Brandon Birtell — “dad’s best friend who is now my best friend” — writing, “This wouldn’t have been possible without you.
“I am so blessed to be able to honor my father’s legacy and share this with him forever x,” Walker wrote in closing. “I love you all so much.”
The message was met with shows of support from franchise stars Vin Diesel and Scott Eastwood, among many others. “He was so proud of you!!!!” wrote Eastwood. “He is smiling about this right now!!”
Meadow Walker’s father, Paul Walker, was one of the original leads of the Fast & Furious franchise, portraying street racer Brian O’Conner in five installments prior to his passing at age 40 following a car collision in November 2013.
Marking the penultimate installment in the decades-long action franchise is Fast X, which hits theaters on May 19th. The new film picks up with globe-trotting street racer Dominic Toretto (Diesel) and his crew, as they look to fend off the pair of big bads that are out for them — the cyberterrorist Cipher (Charlize Theron) and her mysterious cohort, Dante (Jason Momoa) — with the help of a new friend named Tess (Brie Larson). Leterrier is staying on as director for the final installment of Fast & Furious, which is expected to hit theaters in 2025.
