While a second season of WandaVision may not be in the cards, the story that began in Westview will continue in Agatha: Darhold Diaries.
The new series will follow the adventures of Kathern Hahn’s Agatha Harkness as she “breaks out ” of her WandaVision spell and must embark on a quest to get her powers back.
In addition to former Westview residents Sharon Davis (Debra Jo Rupp), Sarah Proctor (Emma Caufield Jones), and Harold Proctor (David Lengel) the series will introduce a new cast of characters including Aubrey Plaza as a witch named Rio Vidal.
A Series of Name Changes
Interestingly, when an Agatha-centric WandaVision spinoff was initially announced, the show was to be titled Agatha: House of Harkness. A month later, Marvel changed the name again, this time to Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
In September 2023, the series was once again renamed, this time to Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.
While the WandaVision spin-off was initially supposed to land on Disney+ in “late 2023”, the series was eventually pushed back to 2024.
According to the latest reports, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries will premiere in the Fall of 2024 as a lead-up to Halloween.
‘Darkhold Diaries’ Logo Revealed
While we are still roughly away from Agatha’s triumphant return, it’s not too early to get excited about the WandaVision spin-off.
While much of the series’ plot remains unknown, Marvel has released a new logo for the show that reflects the Agatha spinoff’s new name.
As you can see the logo is very similar to the Agatha: Coven of Chaos and Agatha: House of Harkness designs.
Are The ‘Agatha’ Name Changes a Marketing Ploy?
Although changes to Marvel content names are not uncommon ( I”m looking at you Captain America: Brave New World) the sheer number of Agatha name changes has led many to speculate that they are actually part of a marketing scheme.
Is it possible that the name changes reflect Agatha’s episode titles? Or is there something else at play?
Only time will tell, if Agatha undergoes another name change, however, I think it will be safe to say something is afoot.
