Marvel Studios Announces Historic Binge Release for New Disney+ Show

Marvel Studios announced the release date for one of its upcoming Disney+ shows, confirming a type of release that’s never been done before in MCU history.

This year and the years to come are going to look much different for the MCU than initially anticipated, with Marvel Studios making some major changes in how the team produces and releases content.

This includes releasing fewer Disney+ shows in any given year, an update that meant the release dates for series like Echo, Ironheart, and even Agatha: Coven of Chaos could be pushed past 2023 to make sure they met the MCU standard.

And after a number of shows had their release windows officially removed, the newest release update from Marvel Studios set some of those changes in stone.

Disney+ Confirms Historic MCU Show Release

During a live presentation at Disney Upfront, Marvel Studios announced that all six episodes of the Disney+ series, Echo, will premiere on Disney+ on November 29.

This marks the first time that any MCU Disney+ show has ever dropped all of its episodes on the same day. The release strategy diverges from the weekly release model that’s been utilized for all nine Marvel Studios shows that have debuted on the streamer over the past two-and-a-half years.

The only other Marvel Studios property that used this strategy was I Am Groot, with Marvel releasing all five shorts on August 10, 2022.

A rumor also indicated in April that this would be one of three Disney+ shows to release this year along with Secret Invasion and Loki Season 2.

Will Echo Release Start New Disney+ Trend?

Multiple reports have detailed some of the issues that Echo has faced behind the scenes, with rumors indicating that the show went through a number of delays before it hits Disney+.

But once the news became more positive about Echo‘s release not being pushed, the questions turned to when it might actually debut amidst the MCU’s other projects and how it would be received.

With all six of Echo‘s episodes now confirmed to release on the same day in this historic move by Marvel Studios, this could be the start of a trend for later shows, even moving over to the movie side of things as well with their Disney+ runs.

Echo has plenty of upside to it with Alaqua Cox’s character coming out of the Hawkeye show, especially with footage already confirming that Daredevil and Kingpin will both be involved in the story.

It’s still unclear whether Echo will be the only show to get this treatment, but with Disney wanting to change things up for the MCU to get better results financially and critically, the hope is that this move will be for the better.

All six episodes of Echo will be available to stream on Disney+ on November 29.
