After all, those big old shoes of his are pieces of iconic footwear. Using legacy methods and innovative materials, Red Wing’s skilled craftspeople have brought some of the magic of the Mushroom Kingdom to real life. Mario’s boots are expertly crafted from Red Wing leather, with a reinforced toe box and rounded heel. The heel pad is made with state-of-the-art mushroom-infused materials celebrating Mario’s signature abilities.

These special Mario boots are a prototype. Red Wing revealed them to the world at Nintendo New York on the occasion of MAR10 Day. According to the release, Red Wing “worked with the film’s creative team to translate every on-screen pixel into a real-life stitch.” They include “durable, natural leather and slip-resistant treads.” These boots will be on display at Nintendo’s New York store through April. Right now, these are a one-of-a-kind creation. But who knows? Maybe someday soon, you can put these on and walk around town, with old-school Nintendo game music blasting in your earbuds, imagining yourself as Mario saving the Mushroom Kingdom.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie hits theaters on April 5.
