Is it a bird, is it a plane? No it’s a Concorde-shaped superyacht: Luxury 425ft ‘Thunder Bird’ hydrofoil vessel with full glass decks, spa and pool is unveiled in concept design
- Turkish yacht designer Aras Kazar has come up with the concept design
- It is called Wakinyan, a Native American Lakota word for thunder
A designer has unveiled jaw-dropping concept plans for a superyacht shaped like Concorde.
The luxury 425ft vessel – complete with full glass decks, a spa and a pool – has been sketched out by Turkish yacht designer Aras Kazar.
The boat is a trimaran, as it has three hulls, and comes equipped with electric and hydrofoil technology, giving it a top speed of 32 knots.
Kazar has called his creation Wakinyan, a Native American Lakota word for thunder.
He said: ‘The word is usually translated as “Thunder Spirits”, “Thunder Beings” or “Thunder Birds”.’

Kazar said: ‘The full glass decks provide almost 360 views with lots of natural light for the interior’
Describing the yacht, Kazar said: ‘This floating bird on the water is 130m long. I followed my sleek line on this project’
The designer said Wakinyan is at a ‘concept level’ but could go into production if an investor is found. There is currently no estimated price for the model.

‘The interior design follows the soft, gentle, cloudy feeling of the exterior. Wakinyan is designed to make you feel calm and relaxed, either when you are enjoying it from the inside or just looking at it from outside.’
The yacht also houses five ‘soft, comfy, cloudy’ bedrooms and one master bedroom.
Wakinyan is the latest project from Aras Kazar, who specialises in ‘minimalist, futuristic and sleek’ designs, and has a portfolio of superyacht concepts

Last year, he revealed his design for Ono, a glass and metal ‘floating villa’ superyacht inspired by Spartan helmets that came complete with solar panels on the roof.
In February, Jeff Bezos’ $500million superyacht Koru, codenamed Y721, was sighted in the North Sea after leaving Rotterdam, footage posted by the organization Dutch Yachting showed.
The test run of the 417ft vessel came months after it was originally set to be delivered to the Amazon founder.
The superyacht requires a 250ft support vessel with a helicopter landing pad.
Koru caused controversy last year after a report that Dutch officials would have to dismantle the historic Koningshaven Bridge because the 130ft steel structure was not big enough to let Koru’s 229ft masts through.
