Lisa Marie Presley, 54 years old, has passed away only a few hours after she was rushed to the hospital Thursday morning after suffering cardiac arrest. Her mother, Priscilla Presley, confirmed Lisa’s passing through a statement provided by her rep, “Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie. They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time.”

TMZ was the first to confirm that Lisa Marie had been taken to the hospital this morning. According to TMZ, “sources directly connected to Lisa Marie told them paramedics performed CPR at her house this Thursday in Calabasas.” She was then rushed to the hospital after they were able to regain a pulse for her. The hospital then put her in a medically induced coma and life support. She was in the Intensive Care Unit, with a temporary pacemaker in critical condition.

Fans and friends from all over the world began to send their prayers and thoughts online but those turned into grief posts only a few hours later.

Lisa Marie was born on Feb. 1, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee and was an American singer-songwriter. She was the only child of the Rock and Roll superstar and icon Elvis Presley and actress Priscilla Presley. They were wed on May 1, 1967, at the Aladdin in Las Vegas. They divorced when she was only 4 years old. She then moved to Los Angeles to live with her mom and she visited her dad in Memphis. She is the sole heir to her father’s estate.

She took after her father in looks and voice by developing a career in the music business and issued three albums. On April 8, 2003, she released her debut album, To Whom It May Concern. It reached No. 5 on the Billboard 200 albums chart and was certified gold in June 2003. Lisa Marie wrote all the lyrics (except “The Road Between”, which was co-written with Gus Black) and co-wrote every melody. To promote it, she presented a concert in the UK. The album’s first single, “Lights Out”, reached No. 18 on the Billboard Hot Adult Top 40 chart and No. 16 on the UK charts. Lisa Marie collaborated with Billy Corgan of the Smashing Pumpkins for a co-written track called “Savior”, which was included as the B-side.

Her second album, released April 5, 2005, Now What, which reached No. 9 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. She co-wrote 10 songs and recorded covers of Don Henley’s “Dirty Laundry”, the album’s first single, which hit No. 36 on the Billboard 100 AC singles chart and the Ramones’ “Here Today and Gone Tomorrow”. The song “Idiot” is a jab towards different men in her life. Unlike her first album, Now What included a Parental Advisory sticker. Lisa Marie covers Blue Öyster Cult’s “Burnin’ for You” as a B-side. Pink makes a guest appearance on the track “Shine”. Her third album, Storm & Grace, was released on May 15, 2012. She said: “It’s much more of a rootsy record, organic record, than my previous work.” It is produced by Oscar and Grammy winner T-Bone Burnett.

On her 25th birthday in 1993, Lisa Marie inherited her father’s estate, which, thanks largely to the stewardship of her mother, had grown to an estimated $100 million. In 1998, Lisa Marie became more closely involved in the management of the Elvis Presley Trust and its business entity, Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. (EPE). She was owner and chairman of the board until February 2005, when she sold 85% of the estate’s business holdings to CKX, Inc., excluding the Graceland property and surrounding land. Lisa Marie also released non-album singles, including duets with her father using tracks he had released before he died.

Lisa Marie attended the Golden Globe Awards this past Tuesday night at The Beverly Hilton to support the film ‘Elvis’ which stars Austin Butler. The film is an autobiography of her father Elvis which follows his career from the beginning of his success through to his passing.

Lisa Marie praised the film it as “truly mind-blowing.” “I really didn’t know what to do with myself after I saw it,” she recalled of the blockbuster biopic. “I had to take, like, five days to process it because it was so incredible and so spot on and just so authentic that, yeah, I can’t even describe what it meant.” “I’m so excited,” she added, “and I hope he wins.” Butler won a Golden Globe for his portrayal. In Butler’s acceptance speech he said, “Thank you for opening your hearts, your memories, your home to me. Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I love you forever,”

Last June, Lisa Marie attended the Hollywood Walk of Fame hand-and footprint ceremony with her mother, Priscilla and daughter Riley Keough.

When Elvis was touring he would frequently dedicate songs to his daughter, specifically Rags to Riches, Are You Lonesome Tonight, End of The Rainbow, and Always On My Mind. About a decade ago, Lisa Marie decided she wanted to perform with her dad. She took Elvis’s version of ‘I Love You’ and changed it into a duet. It starts with his original track with her coming in mid-way through the song. She later released a music video of her recording the song.
