Jimmy Kimmel was delighted on Monday’s episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” about the results of the midterm election, and especially about how a lot of Republicans seem to be blaming Donald Trump for the historical failure of Republicans to muster up a “Red Wave.”
And in his monologue, he first joked that Trump’s weekend was emotional both because of his daughter, Tiffany’s wedding, and the massive failures of his endorsed candidates. “He gave away a daughter and the Senate,” Kimmel joked.
After that, Kimmel ran a fake ad for something that might help Republicans trying to get out from under Trump: A nicotine patch designed to break the addiction to Trump.
“On Saturday, Democrats officially won the senate,” Kimmel noted, thanks to the victory of Democratic candidate Catherine Cortez Masto in Nevada. “Her victory gives the Democrats 50 seats, and Vice President Kamala Harris has the tie-breaking vote, should it be needed. It gives them the majority. It also gives her something to do.”
“Many of the candidates Trump endorsed wound up losing. Everything Trump touches dies. Which explains why Melania will live forever. Trump of course is screaming that the election is rigged, especially in Phoenix,” Kimmel continued, quoting a statement Trump posted on his Truth Social website.
“So in Maricopa County they’re at it again. Voting Machines in large numbers didn’t work,’ blah blah blah, ‘They stole the Electron [sic] from Blake Masters. Do Election over again!’ Stealing the electron from Blake Masters sounds like the plot of the next ‘Avengers’ movie,” Kimmel joked.
Then Kimmel brought up the last remaining Senate context — the runoff scheduled for next month in Georgia between Herschel Walker and Raphael Warnock. Kimmel noted that Walker is, in particular, strongly supported by “sweet old woman” Lindsey Graham. This brought him to the fake ad.
“Graham “is something else. I wonder if he’ll be in Florida tomorrow,” Kimmel began. “You know that Trump has announced that he’s going to announce that he’s running for president tomorrow. Not too many of his fellow Republicans seem that jazzed about it, they tried to get him to delay the announcement, he said no. Many of them blame Trump for what happened in the midterms, they seem him as a liability going forward.”
“But you know, we’ve heard this before. The question now is, are Republicans finally ready to break away from Donald Trump for good? And if they are, there’s help,” at which point the fake ad for a product called “Nicodump DT” played.
“Do you have a Donald Trump problem that you just can’t seem to shake? You wish it would go away. But when you try to quit,” the ad said as video of Lindsey Graham appearing to disavow Trump after the Jan. 6 attack, “it never seems to last.” This was followed by video of Graham once again sucking up to Trump.
The ad promises the patch releases a patented concoction of “lithium, fried chicken and libtard tears, to help curb your appetite for Trump and start living life again.”
“Ask your doctor — if you believe in doctors — about Nicodump DT. It’s time to move on,” the fake ad concluded. Watch the whole monologue above.
