Kevin Feige Confirms That the ‘Mutant Sanga’ Is the MCU’s Next Chapter

With the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse Saga set to come to a close with the release of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, fans are already starting to look ahead to what’s next.

Based on everything we know, Secret Wars will serve as something of a soft reset for the MCU, facilitating the introduction of the X-Men.

At last month’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, we finally got our first look at the MCU’s iteration of the iconic Marvel team, which will include Christopher Abbott as Professor Xavier, Kit Connor as Cyclops, Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Maya Boyd as Storm, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, and Adam Driver as Mr. Sinister.

Today, we also got news that Asa Germann will portray Angel.

Here Comes the Mutant Saga?

While the prevailing notion has been that the X-Men will dominate the next phase of the MCU, Marvel has not confirmed its broader plans.

Now, however, we have another hint as to where things are heading.

Kevin Feige Weighs In

With Avengers: Doomsday on the horizon, Kevin Feige has begun to talk openly about the MCU’s next chapter.

“X-Men already had 10 movies, some very, very good, some I think haven’t lived up to expectations… how do we plan the ‘Mutant Saga’ in a very grand way,” he said recently (via MyTimetoShineHello).

By the sound of things, the X-Men will be the predominant narrative driving the MCU forward.

The question now is how Marvel will tell a broader story centered around the mutants.

While Feige and his team have plenty of options before them, they will need to ensure that the next chapter of the MCU goes more smoothly than the last.
