Kate Middleton and Prince William have been married for 12 years as of April 29, 2023. The newly minted Prince and Princess of Wales famously said “I do” on this spring day in 2011, and have since welcomed three children: Prince George, 9, Princess Charlotte, 7, and Prince Louis, 4.
This year, the royal couple marked the personal milestone by sharing a relaxed portrait by photographer Matt Porteous. “12 years ❤️,” Kate and Will captioned the previously unseen photo, which features the prince and princess at their most casual in jeans, light button-ups, sneakers, and sunglasses. In the photo, the pair seem to have pulled over from a bike ride to pose with their arms around each other in a somewhat rare display of intimacy. You can see the pic here.
Based on their laid-back fits, this photo was taken on the same day as the Wales family’s 2022 Christmas card shoot, which featured the group in shades of blue: George and Louis wore shorts and polo shirts, while Charlette wore a denim romper. Though Middleton was dressed in a pair of dark wash denim, she broke the mold with a white eyelet blouse and her go-to white sneakers. Though it’s not exactly clear which pair of high-waist skinny jeans Middleton broke out for the shoot, Frame’s Le High Skinny Jeans are one of her tried and true favorites.
Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton with the late Princess Diana’s sapphire and diamond engagement ring in November 2010. Earlier this week, Middleton shared a special detail about the ring during a visit to Wales. It turns out, the historic piece didn’t even need to be adjusted to fit her finger. “[It’s the] same ring,” she told one fan in a video, posted to Instagram by @all.thats.pretty. “And exactly the same—the same size.”
Dressed in yet another pair of skinny jeans, hiking boots, and her Barbour x Alexa Chung wax jacket, People reports that Kate Middleton said she was “honored” to wear her late mother-in-law’s ring, adding, “We miss her every day.”
