Speaking with Deadline at the 2026 D23 Expo, Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed that he and his team are speaking with Johnny Depp about reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the upcoming sixth movie. Specifically stating that they are “talking with Johnny” and “working on a screenplay, he expressed hope that the team can “get this done” but did not go further into detail from there. Depp’s place in the next Pirates movie has been up in the air for years, especially after his highly publicized defamation lawsuit involving him and his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
