John R. Leonetti horror film gets December release date

Back in February of 2020, right before the world shut down for a while, it was announced that John R. Leonetti, director of the horror films Annabelle, Wolves at the Door, Wish Upon, and The Silence, had signed on to direct the folklore-inspired horror movie Lullaby for Alcon Entertainment, with Game of ThronesOona Chaplin attached to star. Lullaby has since made its way through production and is now ready to be released. Deadline reports that Vertical Entertainment has acquired the North American distribution rights and will be giving Lullaby a theatrical and VOD release on December 16th.

Scripted by Alex Greenfield and Ben Powell, Lullaby centers on a new mother who discovers a lullaby in an ancient book and soon regards the song as a blessing. But her world transforms into a nightmare when the lullaby brings forth the ancient demon Lilith.

Chaplin is joined in the cast by Ramón Rodríguez (The Affair), Liane Balaban (You Can Live Forever), Kira Guloien (Women Talking), and Moni Ogunsuyi (The Umbrella Academy).

Alcon fully financed the project, with the company’s co-founders and co-CEOs Broderick Johnson and Andrew A. Kosove producing alongside Lee Nelson and David Tish of Envision Media Arts. Alcon’s Carl Rogers and Scott Parish executive produced with Markus Goerg, Mikhail Nayfeld, and Dick Hillenbrand of Heroes and Villains, Jeff Bowler, John Lewis, and Bret Saxon of B3 Media, and Mark Holder of Wonder Street.

When Lullaby was first announced, it was said that everyone involved was hoping it would be “the beginning of a new horror franchise”.

What did you think of the Lullaby trailer? Does this look like a movie you’ll be watching in December? Let us know by leaving a comment below. I haven’t always enjoyed Leonetti’s horror movies, but I’ll be giving this one a chance.
