Jensen Ackles is known for his many different roles on TV, but there is one role that seems to have slipped through his fingers.
He is best know for playing Dean Winchester on Supernatural. He also stars in Days of Our Lives, Smallville, Dark Angel and most recently he played Soldier Boy in The Boys Season 3. Jensen is currently starring as Beau Arlen in Big Sky season 3.
At the Supernatural Nashville Convention 2022, just before his Debut Live Performance of Radio Company, Jensen Ackles shared how upset he had been to loose out the part of Joel Miller in HBO’s The Last of Us. A role that he was apparently “pushing hard” to get. Jensen himself is a big video game fan and he goes on to say this particular role was “high up on my radar”.

The role of Joel is played by Mandalorian actor Pedro Pascal, which fans believed to be perfect casting when it was first announced, despite some backlash. Unfortunately for Jensen Ackles fans, people seem to think he’s not old enough for the role. Although he could’ve have taken on a different version Joel Miller. Many actors were in consideration for this particular role, including Jensen’s Supernatural co star Jeffery Dean Morgan. Jensen wasn’t even in the mix as he says, “I don’t think I was really in the mix or really had a shot at it,” but this was definitely a dream role for him.
The show will also star Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) as Ellie, Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) as Bill, Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate) as Joel’s brother Tommy plus many more.
The Last Of Us is one of greatest stories ever told in a video game, so it makes sense that the adaptation would be one of the most highly anticipated shows of 2023, the series premieres January 15, 2023.
However, all is not in vain, because Jensen just announced that he is attached to a new project related to video games. Although he couldn’t give out any info, he did give fans a small teaser by saying ” I am about to head to LA to shoot a whole day, for a new game that’s coming out, as a character. I can’t say what it is just yet, but you’ll find out soon enough,” now considering the fact that we’ve seen Jensen voice Batman in movies and in a game, it might not be a stretch to assume we’re in for another DC project. It may not be a video game show, but, it’s Jensen Ackles, and you know fans will love it nonetheless.
