Jennifer Lawrence is having a pretty rotten run in the latest NSFW trailer for No Hard Feelings. Have a look above.
The Oscar winner returns to comedy in the R-rated pic from director Gene Stupnitsky, who penned the screenplay with John Phillips. She plays Maddie, a woman who seems to have trouble making good life decisions. When she realizes she’s on the brink of losing her childhood home, she finds an intriguing job listing: wealthy helicopter parents looking for someone to “date” their introverted 19-year-old son Percy (Andrew Feldman) before he leaves for college.
Or “quote-date,” as she puts it. When she tells her pals about the deal, one says: “You won’t even rent your house out, but now you’re gonna rent out your vag?” Maddie replies: “You have a Roadrunner tattoo covering your entire back — I don’t think you should tell anybody what to do with their body.”
A few more-than-awkward scenes with the more-than-awkward teenager ensue, all of which Lawrence appears to be relishing. Take the “dance party”-turned-lap dance moment that devolves into more of a mall Santa vibe. Sort of.
Natalie Morales and Scott MacArthur play Maddie’s pals, and Matthew Broderick and Laura Benanti are Percy’s parents. The Bear’s Ebon Moss-Bachrach also stars. Alex Saks, Marc Provissiero, Naomi Odenkirk, Lawrence and Justine Ciarrochi are producing. Phillips and Kerry Orent are executive producers.
Sony picked up the rights in October 2021 in an auction for the package that had stiff competition and will release the Columbia Pictures film June 23 in theaters.
