Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s mysterious character in The Boys has been revealed in a photo from star Karl Urban following season 4’s filming wrap. The Boys season 4 began filming in late August 2022, with Morgan joining the cast as a mysterious new character. The new season is expected to explore a more unhinged Homelander and the consequences of Temp-V on Urban’s Billy Butcher and Jack Quaid’s Hughie Campbell.
In a new image shared by Urban on Instagram, the star of The Boys is standing alongside Morgan, who sports a suit and tie.
The image doesn’t give many answers as to who Morgan has been cast as in The Boys season 4. However, Urban teases that season 4 of the darkly comedic superhero show will be arriving “soon …ish,” meaning it may not be too much longer until there are answers.

The Boys season 4 will see an expansion of the show’s cast following Starlight quitting The Seven and Queen Maeve going into hiding at the end of season 3. Newcomers to the series include Susan Heyward as Sister Sage and Valorie Curry as Firecracker, two new Supes expected to have important roles in season 4. Despite the reveal of Heyward and Curry’s characters, Morgan’s role is still under wraps, with plenty of speculation surrounding his character.
Given his aptitude for bringing The Walking Dead‘s villainous Negan from the comic universe to the TV show, there’s a strong possibility Morgan will be playing a character that poses a threat to The Boys. Though some theories posit Morgan is playing the Supe Tek Knight, a Batman-like parody that Butcher doesn’t hate in The Boys comics. Urban and Morgan standing side-by-side coupled with Morgan’s suit might be a teaser for Morgan’s role as Tek Knight in The Boys season 4.
If Morgan is playing Tek Knight in The Boys season 4, then the show will be pushing the boundaries of what can be shown on Prime Video once more, given the Supe’s sex addiction in the comics. If Tek Knight were to be adapted faithfully, then there may be scenes even more over-the-top than season 3’s Herogasm Supe orgy. It’s still unclear if Morgan really is playing Tek Knight, though, something that may not be revealed until The Boys season 4 is closer to being released.
