Jason Statham has so much action movie thrills on the horizon that it’s becoming increasingly difficult to keep up, but one truly stands out amongst the rest. The Stath will join forces with John Wick filmmaker David Leitch once again following their Fast and Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw, for a new meta-action-comedy that has just recruited a fellow action star and more.
Over the years, Statham has made his name by playing mysterious, formerly violent men who are often called back into action to wage some kind of war for revenge and retribution in a series of action thriller throwbacks. Often boasting slick martial arts spectacle, explosive shootouts, and white-knuckle car chases, Statham will shift into a different gear in Jason Statham Stole My Bike, poking fun at the gruff persona we all know and love.
Now, the action-comedy outing has added several names alongside a cast that already includes Statham and Ted Lasso and Ride or Die actor Hannah Waddingham. As per Variety, Jason Statham Stole My Bike will also feature Eddie Peng, known for action outings Operation Mekong and The Rescue, Daniel Ings, who is best-recognized for his role in Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen, and Artie Wilkison-Hunt, who recently played a young Adam in Amazon’s adaptation of Masters of the Universe.
Starring Jason Statham as himself, plot details are being kept under wraps, but the movie will reportedly have “a number of major action set pieces” and presumably includes The Stath half-inching someone’s ride. Jason Statham Stole My Bike was recently given an official release date of Aug. 6, 2027, with production now underway and filming due to take place in the United Kingdom and Malta.
Directed by David Leitch, who is also known for the action outings Deadpool 2, Bullet Train, and The Fall Guy, Jason Statham Stole My Bike is written by Alison Flierl, who is best known for her work with Conan O’Brien’s Conan and Netflix’s BoJack Horseman series. Produced by Black Bear, the studio behind Statham’s latest streaming hit Shelter, and 87 North, the studio behind Bob Odenkirk’s action franchise, Nobody (the action pedigree is undeniable), Jason Statham Stole My Bike is scheduled for release on August 6, 2027, with recent reports claiming that it could head straight-to-streaming.
Jason Statham will continue to demonstrate his particular set of skills with next month’s Mutiny, which is due to debut in theaters on Aug. 21. Statham is also all set to join forces with The Night Comes for Us and The Shadow Strays director Timo Tjahjanto for The Beekeeper 2, which is due for release on Jan. 15, 2027, with the popular actor also set to reunite with Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels director Guy Ritchie and star Vinnie Jones for the long-awaited Layer Cake semi-sequel Viva La Madness before reuniting with Beekeeper’s David Ayer for the newly announced action thriller John Doe.
