Jason Kilar, who exited as CEO of WarnerMedia after Discovery’s acquisition last year, has been appointed to the board of directors of online game platform Roblox. Kilar’s appointment to Roblox’s board was effective Sept. 13.
Kilar is entrepreneur and executive who has led media and entertainment companies for more than 15 years.
“Jason Kilar is a well-respected leader in the entertainment and media industry, and his experience in the space is of value to the Board as Roblox continues to scale globally,” David Baszucki, chairman and CEO of Roblox, said in a statement.
Kilar, in a statement, commented, “I am honored to join Roblox, a company I have long admired and cheered from afar as they leaned into the future. Roblox is changing the way people come together and changing how creators can create delightful experiences for them. I am excited to join the board and do all I can to help bring Roblox’s vision to life.”
On the Roblox board, Kilar joins Baszucki, lead independent director Anthony Lee, and board members Gregory Baszucki, Christopher Carvalho, Gina Mastantuono and Andrea Wong.
Kilar also serves on the boards of Wealthfront and Opendoor Technologies. Kilar holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and business administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
