Japanese waitress is sacked for mixing her own BLOOD into cocktails and serving them to un-witting customers at ‘problem child concept café’

A Japanese waitress has been sacked after she was found to have mixed her own blood into the cocktails of unbeknownst customers.

The Mondaiji Con Cafe Daku in Sapporo, Hokkaido – whose name loosely translates to ‘Problem Child Concept Café’ – apologised for the staff member’s actions.

Earlier this month, the outlet addressed customers’ concerns on Twitter and announced the waitress’ firing, saying they had dismissed her after discovering her gruesome cocktail additions.

The café called the server’s actions and their bloody concoctions ‘absolutely not acceptable’, but did not name the person involved.

Mondaiji Con Cafe Daku’s owner also said the outlet would close temporarily while they replaced every drinking glass.

The café advertises itself as an establishment for ‘problem children’ and ‘the cutest’ girls who enjoy the darkness.

It is also well known for its 2,500 yen (£15) per hour all-you-can-drink menu.

Addressing the rather gory controversy, the cafe’s owner said: ‘Please allow me to continue running the store for a little longer so that I can be happy alone.’

‘We will hire a contractor to clean the store, change glasses, and dispose of alcoholic beverages that may have been contaminated. Once again, I am very sorry to have caused you trouble this time,’ a tweet posted earlier this month read.

Of the former employee, the owner said it was a type of ‘part-time job terrorism’.

But following the news, a doctor has warned that ‘drinking the blood of other people is an extremely dangerous act’.

Speaking to Japan’s Flash news site, Dr Zento Kitao warned that anyone who has visited the café should see their doctor and take a blood test.

‘Cases of people getting infected from drinking another person’s blood are rare,’ he said, ‘but major diseases can be transmitted through blood, including HIV, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B and syphilis.

‘If there are wounds in the mouth, it is easy to be infected by blood transmissions.’

Japan is famed for its concept cafes – like that of Mondaiji Con Cafe Daku – giving customers a somewhat unique experience when visiting an establishment.

From cat cafes, to snake cafes, and maid and butler establishments, themed outlets have proven popular in the country.
