Jamie Foxx Speaks About His Journey to “Hell and Back” Following Health Scare

Jamie Foxx Speaks About His Journey to “Hell and Back” Following Health Scare

Back in April, Jamie Foxx was hospitalized out of nowhere and the whole Hollywood community and his fans have been concerned for the actor’s health. Although it’s still unclear exactly what happened to Foxx, who was taken to the hospital after suffering an unspecified medical emergency while filming his next Netflix film, Back in Action, it seems he’s finally back on his feet.

Foxx shared a video with his fans on Instagram to thank them for their support, and noted his journey “to hell and back” after previously being hospitalized with a “medical complication.” As well as debunking some of the more elaborate internet rumors about his condition, Foxx said in the video:

“I cannot even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back. I went through something that I thought I would never, ever go through. I just didn’t want you to see me like that. I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, a television show. I just didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me and trying to figure out if I was going to make it through. But I did go to hell and back. My road to recovery had some potholes as well but I’m coming back, and I’m able to work.”

That ability to work was made public in an article published by TMZ, in which the Academy Award winner was seen filming an ad in Las Vegas last week, marking the first time since his recovery that Foxx got in front of a camera. Foxx’s own video comes after the actor’s daughter published a picture of the two of them on set and Foxx himself shared a picture from behind the scenes, expressing excitement for being back doing what he loves.

Back in Action is one of the six titles that Jamie Foxx has in development and will hit the screen in the next couple of years. The movie, directed by Seth Gordon also stars Cameron Diaz, Kyle Chandler, and Glenn Close. After Foxx was in the hospital, shooting continued with his body doubles taking care of the remaining scenes.

Jamie Foxx is one of the most acclaimed actors in Hollywood, and has been part of some amazing movies such as Ray, Miami Vice, Dreamgirls, Djando Unchained, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Baby Driver, Soul and Spider-Man: No Way Home, which means he was part of the MCU at least for a brief moment, reprising his role as the villain Electro.

Although fans might have to wait a long time to see Foxx on the screen once again with many productions halted in Hollywood because of the writers and actors strikes, the audience can currently enjoy his performance in They Cloned Tyrone, one of the latest Netflix movies, now available at the streaming platform.

Directed by Juel Taylor, who wrote the scripts for both Space Jam: A New Legacy and Creed II, the movie also stars John Boyega and Tenoyah Parris. The story centers on three criminals that end up involved in a huge conspiracy, discovering that cloning is a reality and is being performed on humans.

They Cloned Tyrone is the third film Foxx has released directly with Netflix after the action-packed superhero-style film Project Power, where he played an ex-soldier looking for revenge who joins a police officer and a teen dealer to fight criminals that have gained special abilities thanks to a pill.

The other film was Day Shift, an action comedy mixed with horror that follows a pool cleaner that hides a huge secret. In reality, he’s a vampire hunter who keeps the city of Los Angeles safe from those mythical creatures. Day Shift also stars Dave Franco, Snoop Dogg, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Meagan Good, Karla Souza, Steve Howey, and Scott Adkins.
