James Gunn’s Superman is exactly what DC needed, a thrilling, heartfelt, and thoroughly entertaining tribute to the world’s most iconic hero. Watching this film, it’s impossible not to feel your heart soar right alongside Clark Kent as he takes flight for a new generation.
At the center of it all is David Corenswet, whose performance as both Clark Kent and Superman is nothing short of remarkable. Corenswet brings to life a version of the Man of Steel that is more comic-accurate, more vulnerable, and more genuinely human than we’ve seen in years. While Henry Cavill and Brandon Routh each brought their own strengths to the cape, Corenswet’s Superman feels like a perfect blend of classic charm and modern emotional depth.
Every moment, whether he’s catching a crumbling building, listening to a message from Krypton, or simply sharing a quiet conversation with Ma and Pa Kent deepens our connection to this Superman. Although Corenswet’s version of Superman himself makes some questionable decisions in this film that will leave certain people nitpicking, as Superman struggles, we feel his burdens and his triumphs. From the heartbreak of betrayal by those he once protected to the pain of having Krypto kidnapped, Corenswet makes us believe in a Superman who can lift the world but still wrestles with the weight of being human.
The supporting cast shines, too. Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor is a standout: a cold, calculated villain whose presence commands every scene. While Hoult’s Lex might not dethrone Michael Rosenbaum’s iconic portrayal in Smallville, he brings his own passion and unnerving charisma, making this Lex worth remembering in the DC villain hall of fame.

Rachel Brosnahan, who brings Lois Lane to life with wit, warmth, and unmistakable strength is sharp and fearless, portraying exactly the kind of no-nonsense journalist that Lois is. The chemistry between Brosnahan and Corenswet is undeniable, grounding Superman’s story in a relationship that feels genuine and earned. Her Lois is brave, quick-thinking, and relentless in her pursuit of the truth and Superman himself.

If this is our new Clark, Lex and Lois, we’re in excellent hands.
James Gunn weaves high-flying action, genuine emotion, romance, life-or-death stakes, and throw in a group of hilarious characters who instantly draw you in. Some might not be exactly how fans expect them to be, or exactly how they’ve always been in the comics, but that doesn’t stop it from being thoroughly entertaining. From the moment each character appears on screen, you know whether you’re rooting for them, fearing them, or just waiting to see what they’ll do next. The result is a movie that feels alive and unpredictable from start to finish.
The cast also stars Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen.
And then there’s Krypto who deserves his own spotlight. This absolutely adorable pup steals hearts and scenes in equal measure, adding warmth and levity just when the story needs it. It’s no surprise the cinema erupted in applause as the credits rolled. Well deserved.
