Four words, never doubt James Cameron. 13 years after audiences witnessed the cinematic masterpiece that was Avatar in 2009, the long awaited sequel finally came to life. After the movie’s world premiere in London, the film was screened for members of the press, and the reactions so far are nothing but positive. The film has been called a ‘Visual Masterpiece,‘ and ‘Mind-Blowing,’ the reviews are overflowing with praise for James Cameron. Earlier this year James told Empire Magazine “I don’t want anybody whining about length when they sit and binge-watch television for eight hours,” no one’s gonna be thinking about the length of the movie when they have such an emotional and spectacular film to take in.
Erik Davis from Fandago calls it “moviemaking & storytelling at its absolute finest.”
Happy to say #AvatarTheWayOfWater is phenomenal! Bigger, better & more emotional than #Avatar, the film is visually breathtaking, visceral & incredibly engrossing. The story, the spectacle, the spirituality, the beauty – this is moviemaking & storytelling at its absolute finest. pic.twitter.com/RicnpDghrx

Most critics have suggested that Avatar: The Way of The Water is actually far better than the first, in terms of the plot and characters especially, Courtney Howard of Fresh Fiction, who suggests it is better than its predecessor.
#Avatar2 // #AvatarTheWayOfWater is better than its predecessor in that there’s more going on with the story and characters and its ASTOUNDING technological advancements. Great escapism with enriching sentiments.

This film focuses more on different characters, family dynamics and community, therefore building the world of Pandora up more. Ross Bonaime from Collider suggests that having put the focus on character this time “does even more for building this world than VFX.”
Considering how I found #Avatar to be all style, no substance, I’m completely taken aback by how much #AvatarTheWayOfWater rules.
Looks unlike any movie I’ve ever seen, but Cameron really puts the focus on character this time–which does even more for building this world than VFX pic.twitter.com/r3PsbxGfi3

As for the incredible VFX , the breathtaking visuals of Pandora and the cinematography, “Unsurprisingly, Avatar The Way Of Water is a visual masterpiece with rich use of 3D and breathtaking vistas” says Ian Sandwell of Digital Spy. What else do you expect from James Cameron himself? Critics have called the visuals in the film overwhelming, stunning, mind blowing, unreal, too real and so on. Perri Nemiroff of Collider says “I had faith James Cameron would raise the bar w/ the effects but these visuals are mind-blowing.”
#AvatarTheWayOfWater is pretty incredible. I had faith James Cameron would raise the bar w/ the effects but these visuals are mind-blowing. One stunning frame after the next. But the thing I dug most is how the technical feats always feel in service of character & world-building. pic.twitter.com/MXeN3z8BnP

One thing is for sure, and that is James Cameron does not fail to deliver a great sequel. Kevin L. Lee from AwardsWatch reminds us that “James Cameron now has not two but THREE of the best sequels ever made.” Some had their doubts about a second Avatar movie but, James proved them wrong, and with more Avatar films coming up all the way up until 2028, the best thing to do, is trust James Cameron.
James Cameron now has not two but THREE of the best sequels ever made. AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER is incredible. The effects and action is, yes, breathtaking. But it is the story this time that’s the beating heart. It’s more personal, complicated, emotional. Wow, it really soars. pic.twitter.com/P5aA7dqG0U

With such amazing feedback from press and critics, there’s no doubt that James Cameron and the Avatar team are in for a massive wave of rave reviews and a lot of minds blown when fans finally get to witness this film. Which one must witness in a cinema. A film as visually stunning as Avatar: The Way of Water is guaranteed to be an unforgettable and one of a kind theatrical experience.
