Jacob Elordi Drops Out of Cannes Jury Due to Foot Injury

Jacob Elordi won’t be jetting to the Cannes Film Festival.

The actor was being courted for the official jury, but he had to drop out due to a foot injury, Variety has confirmed. Page Six Hollywood was first to report that Elordi would be replaced as a juror after he broke his foot. In addition to screening a bunch of movies, jurors have to traverse the Croisette for premieres, press conferences, photo calls and parties. This year’s festival is taking place from May 12-23.

Elordi’s rep did not respond to request for comment.

South Korean auteur Park Chan-wook, whose long history with the festival includes “Oldboy,” “Thirst” and “Decision to Leave,” is presiding over the jury of the 79th edition of Cannes. He will be joined by Demi Moore, Chloé Zhao, Stellan Skarsgård, Ruth Negga, Belgian director-screenwriter Laura Wandel, Chilean filmmaker Diego Céspedes, Ivoria American actor Isaach De Bankolé and Scottish screenwriter Paul Laverty.

Among the directors whose films will premiere in competition include Asghar Farhadi (“Parallel Tales”), Pedro Almodóvar (“Amarga Navidad”), Paweł Pawlikowski (“Fatherland”), Ira Sachs (“The Man I Love”), Hirokazu Kore-eda (“Sheep in the Box”), László Nemes (“Moulin”) and Ryusuke Hamaguchi (“All of a Sudden”).

Elordi, who rose to fame through “The Kissing Booth” and “Euphoria,” was Oscar-nominated this year for “Frankenstein” and also starred in February’s “Wuthering Heights” with Margot Robbie. He’s in the third season of “Euphoria,” which is currently airing on HBO, and will be seen next in Ridley Scott’s post-apocalyptic sci-fi film “The Dog Stars.”
