Hulu is Debuting 4 New True Crime ABC News Specials This Summer

ABC New Studios is getting ready for its Hulu debut by releasing four docuseries on the streaming platform this summer, each one with a focus on true crime.

The first to premiere is The Ashley Madison Affair, a three-part docuseries set to stream on July 7th. Ashley Madison was a popular dating app for people looking to discreetly have extramarital affairs, which ended up becoming quite the scandal. As described by ABC News Studios, “The docuseries tells the story of the hackers’ unmet demand, a data breach, and the catastrophic fallout. Upon the exposé-style demise of Ashley Madison, the public soon discovered that perhaps the site’s unfaithful users were not the only ones with a secret.”

On July 11th, Betrayal: The Perfect Husband premieres on Hulu and is based on a podcast of the same name. The docuseries covers the events surrounding reality television producer Jenifer Faison after she learned her husband Spencer Herron was sexually assaulting his high school students. The three-part docuseries “is a tale of earth-shattering discoveries, a victim’s bravery, and a woman’s quest to reclaim her life against all odds.”

Next on the list is Mother Undercover, a four-part docuseries featuring mothers who protect or get justice for their children by conducting their own undercover tactics. Each episode showcases a different mother whose child was the victim of murder, international kidnapping, mass suicide, and judicial corruption. “The series showcases the strength and resilience of these women who give new meaning to the saying ‘A mother’s love knows no bounds’.”

And lastly, the three-part series Demons and Saviors will premiere on August 3rd. This docuseries explores the case of Christina Boyer, nicknamed “poltergeist girl” due to her alleged telekinetic abilities. In 1992, she was convicted of murdering her three-year-old daughter. To this day, she still maintains her innocence. “Exploring Christina’s troubled upbringing, her alleged telekinetic abilities, and the questions that remain about the death of her daughter, Demons and Saviors investigates what is the conspiracy and what is the truth.”
