Horizon: Forbidden West is coming to the PlayStation Plus Games Catalogue this month and will therefore be available at no extra cost to those with an Extra or Premium membership.
As revealed on the PlayStation Blog, Forbidden West will finally arrive on the service on February 21, almost one year to the date after it was released.
A lot of speculation has surrounded the status of PlayStation’s first party titles on the Games Catalogue since the service was first announced. As it was seen by many as a competitor to Xbox’s Game Pass — where first party games like Halo and Forza arrive on their launch date — there was an expectation that Sony’s service would offer something similar.
That wasn’t the case, however, as PlayStation boss Jim Ryan said releasing its games as part of the service immediately wouldn’t make financial sense for the company.
But with Forbidden West coming to the Games Catalogue one year after launch, this could set a new precedent for the timescale of first party games coming to the service, and IGN has reached out to PlayStation for comment.
It’s not the only game arriving in February, however, as The Quarry, Resident Evil 7, Outriders, Scarlet Nexus, Borderlands 3, Tekken 7, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, Earh Defense Force 5, Oninaki, Lost Sphear, I am Setsuna, and The Forgotten City are also coming to the Games Catalogue.
