Hocus Pocus 2 Releases Teaser Trailer: The Sanderson Sisters Are Back

Hold onto your brooms our favorite witches are back! The Sanderson sisters, Winifred (Bette Midler), Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker), and Mary (Kathy Najimy), reunite for the highly anticipated sequel. While there have been some previous behind-the-scenes footage released and some fun clips on social, today’s press release is the first one giving us a look at stills from the movie (see above) and the first look at their teaser trailer.

Check out the teaser below:

Hocus Pocus premiered in 1993 with Kenny Ortega as the director. It told the story of three wicked sisters in Salem, Massachusetts, who spent 300 years asleep before being awoken by the Black Flame Candle. In the original, the sisters faced off against young Max Dennison (Omri Katz) and sister Dani (Thora Birch), who struggled to stop the witches from becoming immortal. The original followed the crazy brother and sister duo as they departed on an unbelievable adventure to stop the three witches before the sun came up — preventing them from becoming immortal. (Spoiler alert… the kids suceeed putting the witches back to sleep). However, it looks like that didn’t last for too long.

While Disney is keeping most of the sequel under wraps, today’s press release gave a little insight into the sequel saying, “It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to stop the greedy witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve.”

The sequel includes an all-star cast featuring: Sam Richardson from “The Tomorrow War,” Doug Jones from “The Shape of Water,” Hannah Waddingham from “Ted Lasso,” Whitney Peak from “Gossip Girl,” Belissa Escobedo from “American Horror Stories,” Lilia Buckingham from “Dirt,” Froyan Gutierrez from “Teen Wolf,” and Tony Hale from “Veep.”

Anne Fletcher is directing the sequel. Fletcher is best known for “Dumplin’” and “The Proposal.” It will be produced by Lynn Harris, who has also worked on King Richard and The Shallows with Ralph Winter, David Kirschner, and Adam Shankman serving as executive producers.

The witches are back, and we couldn’t be more excited. Hocus Pocus 2 is set to stream on Disney+ on September 30.
