Henry Cavill’s Farewell – Deadline

Netflix has released the official trailer for The Witcher Season 3 Volume 2, which gives us an action-packed look at Henry Cavill in his final three episodes as Geralt of Rivia.

As previously reported, Cavill will not return for The Witcher‘s fourth season. His role has been recast with Liam Hemsworth.

In Season 3’s final episodes, as monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt (Cavill) takes Ciri (Freya Allan) into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where they hope to uncover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line – or risk losing each other forever.

In the trailer, Geralt tells Ciri and Yennefer, “We didn’t come this far just to abandon each other.” Jaskier confirms that Geralt will defend Ciri at all costs, saying “The war brewing outside is nothing compared to what Geralt will do to protect his daughter.” In the final scene, we see Cavill’s Geralt face down in the water, with his voiceover saying “There’s no coming back from this.”

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich serves as showrunner and executive producer. The Witcher also is executive produced by Steve Gaub, Matt O’Toole, Mike Ostrowski, Javier Grillo-Marxuach, Platige Films (Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko) and Hivemind Content (Jason Brown and Sean Daniel).
