Harry Potter star looks unrecognisable after two-year spell in prison

Since Deathly Hallows Part 2 hit our cinema screens in 2011, the cast of the Harry Potter series have ventured into more films, TV shows and even theatre productions.

Although stars such as Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint have had glittering careers following the movie franchise, not everyone remained in the limelight.

One Harry Potter actor is unrecognisable after abandoning a film career and serving prison time.

The former actor’s Cameo page offers video messages for £160 each – their average length is one minute and 47 seconds

His character Vincent Crabbe,  was one of the sidekicks of Harry's long-term arch-nemesis and rival Draco Malfoy, alongside Gregory Goyle

Jamie Waylett who played Vincent Crabbe, one of Draco Malfoy’s minions, looks nothing like he did as a child star.

Despite facing a promising future after acting in one of the highest-grossing film series ever, at age 34 Waylett has not bagged any new acting roles since the wizarding world movies came to an end.

Instead, the actor has had a troubled and turbulent life, including a brush with the law.

His character Vincent Crabbe was one of the sidekicks of Harry’s long-term arch-nemesis and rival Draco Malfoy, alongside Gregory Goyle.

He was part of Slytherin house and was present for six out of the eight films that spanned across 10 years.

Key moments included Harry and Ron taking polyjuice potion to impersonate them in the Chamber of Secrets to get information out of Draco.

In The Deathly Hallows book, Crabbe accidentally kills himself after setting fire to the Room Of Requirement.

However, the film panned out differently due to Waylett being removed from the cast – Goyle, played by Josh Herdman, took his place in the movie and died instead.

He was absent from the final two movies after being was arrested in 2009 for growing marijuana in his family home and later pleaded guilty to the possession of cannabis and possession of a knife.

Waylett was 20 years old at the time and was ordered to do 120 hours of unpaid work.

Later, in 2012 he was arrested for his participation in the London riots the previous year over charges of ‘violent disorder, having an article with intent to destroy or damage property, and receiving stolen goods’.

He was sentenced to two years in prison.

Waylett never returned to acting and has recently appeared on the personalised video website Cameo.

Cameo is a video sharing website, where fans can pay for their favourite stars to send them a personalised video message.

The former actor’s Cameo page offers video messages for £160 each – their average length is one minute and 47 seconds.

Fans were shocked to see that the actor looks a lot different than he did before his prison stint.

While his face still looks familar, he’s now sporting facial hair and a face tattoo of stars across his eyebrow.

In a recent clip advertising the service, he said ‘What’s going on people, it’s your boy Jamie Waylett, I played Vincent Crabbe in the Harry Potter movies one to six.

‘I’m very very excited to have the opportunity to be able to give people and the loved ones in your life that you care about, a special message. I look forward to hearing from you. Slytherin for life.’

In a previous paid video he wished a fan Merry Christmas, and in another he answered a fan’s question who queried if he was a fan of the Harry Potter series before he was cast in it.

All of the previous fan videos the actor has recorded are available on his page.

His co-star Tom Felton has also taken to Cameo, however, he charges a whopping £485 per personalised clip.
