Marvel Studios is highlighting the main characters of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 with a series of stunning new posters.
The Guardians marketing machine has been kicked into high gear, as the runway to James Gunn’s latest (and very likely last) MCU adventure gets shorter and shorter.
Vol. 3 marks the “end of an era” for this particular team within Marvel’s super-powered universe, as some of the names that made the Guardians franchise what it is, move on.
So in celebration of the end of this era of the Guardians, Marvel is pulling out all the stops, putting out a myriad of posters, trailers, and sneak peeks into the latest intergalactic epic.
Guardians 3 Character Posters Revealed
In anticipation of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Marvel Studios released a series of cosmic character posters focused on the film’s extensive cast.
Each of the nine Guardians got their own poster with images of the cosmos overlayed on top of everyone striking a unique pose.
Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord headlines the series, listening to his Zune MP3 player which will be key to the film’s expansive soundtrack.
Rocket Raccoon gets up close and personal in his poster, as he brandishes his signature double-barrel rifle cannon.
The newly dubbed ‘swole Groot‘ looks curious in typical Groot fashion, peeking right into the camera lens.
Dave Bautista’s Drax stars in what might be his final Guardians character poster with eyes wide and mouth agape.
After the events of The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, Mantis sits contemplatively in her personal poster.
Karen Gillan’s Nebula lounges with what looks to be Saturn in the background.
Kraglin gets his first character poster as a full-time member of the Guardians, assumedly messing around with his whistle-controlled Yaka whistle arrow.
The intergalactic space dog, Cosmo, celebrates her first Guardians film, looking like the good pup that she is, ready for adventure.
Zoe Saldaña’s Gamora gets her own poster as well, sporting a new haircut for the character, and looking off into the distance.
These posters come after days of leaks leading up to their official release.
Meeting the Guardians One Last Time
While character posters are nothing new for the MCU, there is a bit of a bittersweet feeling that comes with this particular batch. For some of these names, this could be the last character spotlight that they get.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has been confirmed to be the end of this Guardians story, so while the likes of Cosmo and Kraglin may get another opportunity to feature on a poster just like they are here, other names like Drax or Rocket likely won’t.
Because of that, these pieces of marketing take on a new meaning. Surely if characters like Dave Bautista‘s Drax do meet their end, these will be the posters that fans cling to, hanging them on their walls in honor of their favorite fallen heroes.
So, lucky these posters look as good as they do if they are going to live on long after the film has come and gone from theaters.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 comes to theaters on May 5.
