Green Lantern’s Nathan Fillion Gives His Official Verdict On DC’s New Movie

The DC Universe franchise is expanding across the big and small screens with various outcomes.

The DCU’s Chapter 1: “God and Monsters” slate is continuing to bring numerous heroes and villains to life in James Gunn’s superhero continuity. However, with the fall season underway, 2026 has seen both ups and downs for DC Studios.

In a new interview with Variety, Fillion, who recently reprised his role as Guy Gardner on Lanterns, opened up about his thoughts on Supergirl, following its mixed reception and box office performance. The DCU veteran stated, “I can’t tell you much as far as to how people responded. I can tell you, though, how I respond. I really enjoy when the right person is selected for the right job. Milly Alcock, I think her take on Supergirl is brilliant, I am so pleased with these favorite characters of mine coming to life. I have yet to be disappointed by anything James Gunn does, which is great because he puts me in most everything he does!”

While the Supergirl movie only grossed $126.4 million at the worldwide box office for its theatrical run, audiences and critics were left divided on the summer blockbuster. As of writing, the Craig Gillespie-directed feature has 53% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 377 submitted reviews on the platform.

However, general moviegoers were more in favor of Supergirl than members of the press, as its audience score is sitting at 72%. Despite Alcock’s solo film not emerging as one of the stronger DCU entries, the Girl of Steel is far from done with the franchise, as she will be back in 2027’s Man of Tomorrow movie, which will also feature Fillion’s latest round as Guy.

The Superman continuation will not only bring David Corenswet’s Man of Steel back to the big screen, but he will be joining forces with Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor, as they face the dangerous arrival of Brainiac in the DCU. Lars Eidinger has been tapped to bring the famous DC villain to life on the big screen.
