Go Yoon Jung is reportedly going to play the lead female role in the much-awaited Hospital Playlist spin-off. The K-drama will be released in 2024.
Korean actress Go Yoon Jung has officially landed the lead role in the upcoming spin-off K-drama based on the popular tvN series, Hospital Playlist. On September 20th, tvN confirmed her casting as the main character in the upcoming K-drama, which has been translated as A Life of a Resident That Will Be Wise Someday. In this series, the actress, will take on the role of a first-year Obstetrics and Gynecology resident at the Jongro branch of Yulje Medical Center, as reported by Naver TV Entertainment.
The official announcement further informed, “Director Shin Won Ho and writer Lee Woo Jung, who produced the ‘Reply’ series and the ‘Hospital Playlist’ series, will participate as creators in the new drama. As the spin-off drama of ‘Hospital Playlist,’ ‘A Life of a Resident That Will Be Wise Someday’ will depict the realistic and relatable hospital lives and turbulent friendships of doctors and residents at a university hospital,” as reported by Soompi.
Director Shin Won Ho and writer Lee Woo Jung have consistently delivered impactful stories with relatable narratives, clever humour, and heartwarming moments in their previous works. They are set to continue their creative partnership in this K-drama, generating significant anticipation for the new series, which promises to blend entertainment and emotion in a fresh way.
Director Lee Min Soo of Stain and Let’s Meet in an Unfamiliar Season, along with writer Kim Song Hee, who previously served as an assistant writer for Reply 1988 and Hospital Playlist, have also reportedly joined the production team, further heightening the excitement among fans.
Another popular actress, Shin Si Ah may also be joining Go Yoon Jung in the upcoming spin-off. Soompi cites a source from Shin Si Ah’s agency ANDMARQ, saying: “Shin Si Ah is positively in talks to star in A Life of a Resident That Will Be Wise Someday.”
Before this, Shin Si Ah was praised for her role in the 2022 horror film, The Witch: Part 2. The Other One.
As for Go Yoon Jung, the 27-year-old actress made her acting debut in 2019 with her role in the drama He Is Psychometric. Since then, she has taken on diverse characters in notable projects, including the Netflix series Sweet Home, JTBC’s Law School, the movie Hunt, and the hit tvN drama Alchemy of Souls, where she portrayed the beloved character Nak Su. Her impressive performances have firmly established her as an emerging star in the entertainment industry.
Furthermore, her Disney+ original series titled Moving has gained immense popularity, both in South Korea and internationally. Audiences are eagerly looking forward to the unique energy she will bring to this project in collaboration with director Shin Won-ho’s team.
