Darren Criss‘ one-night-only concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London became a “Glee” reunion when the singer surprised audiences by bringing out Chris Colfer and performing “Baby It’s Cold Outside” as an homage to their characters on the hit show, Kurt Hummel and Blaine Anderson.
Criss began the song solo, telling the audience he’d be singing both parts, even though “it’s not supposed to be like that, but I’ve managed to pull off so many things,” he said, before Colfer joined him a few verses later. “The only thing inappropriate about doing this song is doing it without me,” joked Colfer before he began singing.
Criss and Colfer first performed the song during the Season 2 Episode 10 titled “A Very Glee Christmas,” which aired in 2010. Their characters were fan favorites who began dating in Season 2 before getting engaged and married in the final season.
Last month, following long-swirling rumors of a potential “Glee” reboot, creator Ryan Murphy officially weighed in and revealed there’s a script. “Well, funny you ask, ’cause I just finished the script an hour ago,” Murphy told Entertainment Tonight. “So, we have a script. Brad [Falchuk], Ian [Brennan] and I, who wrote all the first two seasons, have written something. I’ve been in touch with around 10 of the original cast members. It’s very sweet, and they all had a lot of questions, but they all were very enthusiastic about the idea.”
Murphy noted that although there is a script, “nobody’s read it.” “So I don’t know, we’ll see,” he continued. “I vowed to myself that I wanted to write a couple of them to see what people think, particularly the cast, ’cause we were very close when we were making it.”
“Glee” first premiered in Sept. 2009, and in addition to Michele, Colfer and Criss, it starred Corey Monteith, Naya Rivera, Dianna Agron, Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Heather Morris and more.
