Last night, Glamour hosted a special evening for its Women of the Year Advisory Board. Fig and Olive, in New York’s Meatpacking District, provided the backdrop for an unforgettable, intimate dinner in a private room that transported guests to a captivating ambiance evocative of the Mediterranean Riviera. The gathering of these influential women symbolized the collective strength and purpose that emerges when women come together.

The Women of the Year Advisory Board holds a significant place in the history of Glamour’s prestigious awards. Originally established in 1990 by one of Glamour’s former Editor in Chiefs, the visionary Ruth Whitney, at the inception of the awards, the board’s purpose was to bring together an exceptional group of women who could share their collective insights and perspectives on the most influential leaders of today and tomorrow.

In 2020, Glamour revived this cherished tradition, expanding the board to include a broader array of luminaries. “We come together a couple of times every year, and they help us understand what women we should be looking at, celebrating, and ultimately honoring. And this is our first in-person Advisory Board meeting,” said Glamour’s editorial director of the Americas, Samantha Barry.

This year’s Women of the Year Advisory Board boasts an impressive lineup of past and previous Women of the Year honorees and women representing the pinnacle of their respective fields—from sports to business, music, fashion, activism, and more.

The dinner began with a heartfelt welcome from Barry, who stressed the significance of the occasion. “We were all last together at the  Vice President’s house, and we’ve always expressed our desire to organize a dinner because the conversations we have on our virtual zooms are the most inspiring discussions I have all year. This is all thanks to each and every one of you and the contributions you make to Glamour,” Barry stated.

As the evening unfolded, conversations delved into a wide range of topics, including personal childhood anecdotes as well as pressing matters like paid leave, politics, and the education system. By the end of the event, board members departed with a Glamour gift bag containing products exclusively owned or founded by women including brands from the Glamour 100, a testament to our By Women initiative and the importance of supporting women-owned businesses.
