James Gunn really wants his new version of the DCU to work out, and in order to do so he’s determined to bring some really big stars to the franchise. Big stars like Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian actor Giancarlo Esposito. Esposito already has a lot of experience on being part of huge franchises. He was one of the main characters in Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials and Maze Runner: The Death Cure, he has played Stan Edgar in both The Boys and The Boys Presents: Diabolical, Moff Gideon in The Mandalorian, and the acclaimed and dangerous Gustavo Fring in Breaking Bad.

Esposito has even been part of a DC Comics related project lending his voice to Lex Luthor in Harley Quinn‘s animated series. So he’s certainly a tried-and-tested talent for Gunn to add to his new gallery of comic book movie stars.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, user swshriv shared a video of an event during which Esposito participated. In the video, the actor answers a fan who asks him about the possibility of joining the DCU and confirms that he has already been talking with Gunn about the idea.

“I have been talking to James Gunn about the possibility of being in a movie – so who knows?”

Esposito is one of the most versatile actors in Hollywood right now, so he could really play any type of character. From one of the most well-known and important ones heavily connected to the mythology of the comic book company such as Martian Manhunter, to one of the essential villains like Lex Luthor, Mr. Freeze, or The Penguin (considering that Colin Farrell’s will not be part of the official canon). There really are so many options, and so many perfect DCU roles for the actor to take.
