Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and California Governor Gavin Newsom will debate on November 30 at a Georgia location, with Fox News’s Sean Hannity moderating the event.
The 90-minute debate, to air on Fox News’s Hannity at 9 p.m., has been in the works for weeks, when they each agreed to such an event, but plans stalled out over details. Newsom said earlier this month that the plans for the event stalled out over a “venue issue,” and said, They wanted thousands of people and make it a performance. I wasn’t interested in that.” But he hinted that they were getting closer in negotiations.
A Fox News spokesperson said that more details on the format and venue will be announced.
DeSantis will be at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library on Wednesday, as the Florida governor plans to be on the stage of the second Republican debate. Newsom, meanwhile, is expected to have a presence at the event as a Biden campaign surrogate.
The debate is being billed as the Red State Vs. Blue State Debate. Newsom agreed to participate when it was proposed by Hannity during a June interview. DeSantis agreed to participate in July. In a statement, Hannity said he was “looking forward to providing viewers with an informative debate about the everyday issue and governing philosophies that impact the lives of every American.”
