SLOW HORSES, Season 6
Director: Adam Randall
Screenwriters: Gaby Chiappe, Edward Docx, Sophie Goodhart, Mark Denton, Johnny Stockwood
and Mick Herron
Logline: River Cartwright (Jack Lowden) had hoped to escape the purgatory of Slough House, after the glimmering hope of a promotion seemed just in his grasp. But the endless machinations of newly-ascended First Desk Diana Tavener (Kristin Scott Thomas) land Cartwright back on MI5’s island of misfit toys, under the reluctant governance of Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman). After the chaos of last season’s entanglement with Libyan operatives, accidental assassinations, and Roddy’s (Christopher Chung) love life, the Horses could use a breather. But as River deals with personal matters, spurring the return of ruthless mercenary — and River’s father — Frank Harkness (Hugo Weaving), another maelstrom of revenge and retaliation for old wounds begins to form.

Key quote: “It’s more personal,” Oldman said about Jackson Lamb’s journey this time around in Season 6 with the Slow Horses. “I think the investment in the situation that they find themselves in the eleventh hour where someone comes in and pushes a nuclear button. Every season has that sort of race. But with this one he takes [the attacks] more personally, I think, because his horses are being targeted. So there’s a bit more fire underneath.”
