FX Scraps Never Let Me Go Series Adaptation

FX has scrapped the series adaptation of the 2010 Fox Searchlight picture Never Let Me Go.

FX picked up the series, which would have streamed on Hulu, in October. The decision to cancel the series was made before any production had even started.

Kazuo Ishiguro‘s film adaptation of his 2005 science fiction novel of the same name served as the basis of the series.

The series follows Thora, a disobedient adolescent clone who escapes from the boarding school where she and her fellow clones are kept concealed from society. She sets in motion events that will launch a revolution and push the limits of what it means to be human as she begins living covertly in the outside world.

Viola Prettejohn, Tracey Ullman, Kelly Macdonald, Aiysha Hart, Spike Fearn, Shaniqua Okwok, Gary Beadle, Kwami Odoom, Susan Brown, Keira Chanse and Edward Holcroft were all attached to co-star.

FX isn’t the first network to scrap series with series orders or renewals, joining HBO Max, AMC, Starz and others in reversing decisions over the past several months.

FX Chairman John Landgraf said at the TCA winter press tour, the network didn’t have “specific plans” to cancel already ordered or renewed series but “wouldn’t rule anything out,” according to Variety.
