Written and directed by Urszula Antoniak, Magic Mountains has the following synopsis: A successful writer asks his ex, who left him, to climb one last time in the mountains together. Only then he can really let her go.
So no, it doesn’t have anything to do with the Six Flags amusement park Magic Mountain. But that synopsis does sound quite ominous, so we should probably be ready to see some thrilling things happen far above ground.
The film stars Marcin Dorocinski, Hannah Hoekstra, Maria Maj, and Thomas Ryckewaert.
Polish-Dutch filmmaker Urszula Antoniak got started making short films, then directed the 35 minute TV movie Bijlmer Odyssee in 2004. Her first feature was the 2009 drama Nothing Personal, and she has followed that up with the horror mystery Code Blue, the drama Nude Area, and the drama Beyond Words. Magic Mountains was her fifth feature. Since making this one, she has directed the sci-fi romance Splendid Isolation. Between Beyond Words and Magic Mountains, she also directed an episode of the thriller TV show Van God los.
