Maja Simonsen (“Emily in Paris”), Ragga Ragnars (“Vikings”), Jay Duffy (“Hollyoaks”) and Rima Te Wiata (“Kiri and Lou”) have all scored recurring roles in Amazon Studios’ “The Wheel of Time” TV series.
They will reportedly play Chiad, Bain, Dain Bornhal and Sheriam Bayanar, respectively. The series’ second season was already filmed from July 2021 through to May 2022 in the Czech Republic.
The Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television series was renewed for a third season in July last year and began production on those episodes last week, with filming to run through October.
The newcomers join returnees Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), Lan (Daniel Henney), Rand (Josha Stradowski), Egwene (Madeleine Madden), and Nynaeve (Zoe Robins) and Perrin (Marcus Rutherford) return while Donal Finn will be taking over the role of Mat.
The announcement was made this afternoon at JordanCon, an event dedicated to the author and celebrating sci-fi and fantasy writing.
Also joining for the second season is Ceara Coveney as Queen Elayne Trakand, Ayoola Smart as Aviendha, Bayle Domon as Julian Lewis Jones, along with Meera Syal and Natasha O’Keeffe in unspecified roles.
Executive producer and showrunner Rafe Judkins adapted the series for the screen, whilst Larry Mondragon, Rick Selvag, Ted Field, Mike Weber, Darren Lemke and Marigo Kehoe all serve as executive producers.
