First Look at Harrison Ford’s Recast Marvel Character (Set Photos)

The first photos of Harrison Ford as the MCU‘s recast General “Thunderbolt” Ross surfaced from the Captain America: New World Order set.

Ford is set to make his Marvel Studios debut, playing the longtime MCU character after William Hurt (the actor who originally played Ross) died last March.

The Indiana Jones and Han Solo star recently revealed that we were excited about joining the super-powered franchise, after “[watching] all these terrific actors having a good time [in Marvel movies].”

Ford is supposedly set for a “fantastic” debut, playing off of Anthony Mackie’s Captain America in the upcoming epic, and potentially even Hulking out somewhere down the line.

New images from the set of Captain America: New World Order revealed a first look at Harrison Ford in his MCU debut

Ford takes on the role of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross in the upcoming sequel, following the death of Thunderbolt Ross actor William Hurt.

Just Jared posted the images, showing Ford sporting a dress shirt and tie from the New World Order set in Atlanta, Georgia.

This comes shortly after filming for the project started earlier in the month

Harrison Ford’s Captain America Debut

While it is bittersweet seeing another actor take on a role fans had come to know and love during William Hurt’s years in the MCU, it is still exciting that an actor just as legendary in Harrison Ford is going to pick up the torch left behind by Hurt.

Not much is known yet about General Ross’ involvement in New World Order; however, there have been some nuggets strewn about during the development and production of the Captain America sequel.

Ford’s Marvel character will reportedly have a new post when Captain America 4 hits theater screens next year, having left behind the role of the U.S. Secretary of Defense and becoming the American President

And seeing as the film has been described as a “paranoid [political] thriller,” it feels like the President will have an important role to play in its happenings.

Now, the question remains, with so much Hulk lore being connected to the MCU epic, will Ford’s Thunderbolt Ross take on his comic persona as the villainous Red Hulk at some point throughout the film?

Captain America: New World Order comes to theaters on May 3, 2024.
