Finn Wolfhard Addresses Millie Bobby Brown Calling His Kissing Lousy

There’s no such thing as a perfect kiss when you’re 12—ask Finn Wolfhard. In a new interview the Stranger Things star responded to criticism from costar Millie Bobby Brown on his kissing skills.

In case you forgot: Last year Brown took a lie detector test for Vanity Fair about Wolfhard’s kissing skills, and the results were brutal. In the first season of Stranger Things, Mike (Wolfhard) and Eleven (Brown) formed a bond that felt like a little more than friends. By the eighth episode, their chemistry was palpable and it led to a perfectly awkward first kiss that neither of them would forget. At the time, Wolfhard was 12 and Brown was 11. Mike and Eleven’s relationship blossomed and transformed throughout their teen years, but Brown hasn’t forgotten about how “lousy” their first kiss was. (Sadie Sink had an awkward first kiss on Stranger Things too.)

The interviewer reminded Brown of her own words—“You exclaimed, ‘Kissing sucks!’ after your first kiss with Finn Woolfhard—is Finn just a lousy kisser?” The loaded question had a truthful, almost immediate answer: “He is.” To rub salt in the wound, the interviewer asked if Wolfhard has improved, and Brown said, “Not with me, no.” Ouch!

Luckily, Finn Wolfhard isn’t taking it personally. In a preview for Wolfhard’s appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, he addressed Brown’s criticism lightheartedly. “You know what, I was fine with it…. I didn’t know how to approach that in any way,” he shared honestly, adding, “The romantic way of putting it was that I headbutted her. But I was 12, so, you know, I probably would have done the same thing if I was not onscreen in front of the entire world.”

The fourth season of Stranger Things came to a close in July 2022 and won’t return to Netflix until 2024 for its fifth and final season, meaning Brown and Wolfhard will have one more season of lousy kisses.
