Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore
In this third chapter of the Harry Potter spin-off film series, Newt (Eddie Redmayne) and his companions join forces with Dumbledore to put an end to an evil wizard revolt. Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen) and his evil forces face off against our original squad of heroes, as secrets from both sides begin to leak everywhere.
Audiences appreciated this action-packed part continuation, but critics argued that they should not be reliant on the universe’s pre-existing storyline and characters. Despite what critics claimed, the film became Warner Bros.’s fourth covid-era feature to gross more than $400 million.
Persuasion
“The book was better than the film” is an age-old argument that never gets old. Jane Austen’s Persuasion is an all-time favorite classic that just got its live-action film version. The critics were not happy seeing their favorite literature as a film, but the audience loved the casting and acting to help it perform well enough at the box office.
Dakota Johnson stars as Anne Elliott, whose life is turned upside down when her old flame, Frederick Wentworth (Cosmo Jarvis), re-enters her life. Hence it begins, Anne’s struggle against her head and heart, to ponder over whether love can be given another chance.
The critics claimed that it was a failed attempt to modernize the source material, by offering fourth wall breaks in an attempt to make the storyline more comedic. The audience did not complain and it has left everyone with anticipation from Austen fans for more film remakes in the future.
The Gray Man
This action-packed Netflix movie stars the all-time heartthrobs Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans as operative CIA agents and assassins, and fans can’t be happier. As our CIA agent (Ryan Gosling) goes rogue after finding out some dark secrets of the agency, a team of assassins led by Chris Evans is sent down to hunt him.
Though the film received widespread criticism for being unoriginal, similar to John Wick, and lacking creativity, fans were not disappointed. They couldn’t care less or grumble about the cat-and-mouse pursuit between two of Hollywood’s most adored performers.
Uncharted
Sony has done a good job at adapting the famous video game, Uncharted, into a film.
The film charts the adventures of Young Nathan Drake who is played by Tom Holland. He is accompanied by his mentor Sully, played by Mark Wahlberg, and potential love interest Chloe Frazer (Sophia Ali).
It’s been a good attempt, as the audiences believe that the bar is pretty low for video game adaptations because there haven’t been too many out there. This gives fans a chance to accept anything that comes their way, even if mildly interesting.
Where The Crawdads Sing
This novel adaptation features a thrilling adventure of a young woman, Kaya Clark (Daisy Edgar-Jones), who is living alone in a North Carolina marshland after she has been abandoned by her family. The story begins when she finds herself being framed for her ex-boyfriend’s murder.
The age-old critical argument continued here as well that the ‘book was better than the film’, but audiences were happy nonetheless. This Young Adult fiction adaptation was an absolute success and diverged all critical remarks. The success of the film even took the box office by surprise!

355 is a classic example of a ‘great cast but no plot’, as it features some of the top actresses from the industry! The stellar cast includes Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong’o, and Diane Krueger.
The women in action arc allowed this to become a success as the audiences demand equal representation in the genre. Though it does not go to the heights that similar films did such as Atomic Blaze and Wonder Woman, but it was appreciated nonetheless.

Audiences deserve to have a say in what the filmmakers bring to the table because, at the end of the day, the film is just a form of expression and must not be so critically analyzed that the fun and appreciation no longer remain in it. One must be able to enjoy any film that they like without any pressure from critics or people who just want to ruin the fun!
