Fairlight Live Gets New Public Beta Update With Auto-Mixing and Fader Flip Options

A day after Blackmagic Design finally pushed its new DaVinci Resolve 21 out of beta and into full release, the company is back with another update for its Fairlight Live audio mixer. This one is still a beta release, though, but it’s quite expansive in terms of the new features and improvements it is set to offer.

The biggest news here is that Fairlight Live will get a new fader-flip option that lets faders map to auxes. There are also new matrix and mix-minus send levels, new automatic ducking for talent, support for OSC, and plenty of other updates.

Here’s what you need to know.

While the Fairlight Live audio mixer is a bit further removed from traditional filmmaking and video production needs, for those who work in live events or other hybrid roles that involve audio mixing, it’s a nice system to have access to within the Blackmagic Design family.

Fairlight Live is a software-based mixer that supports features such as spatial audio mixing and SMPTE-2110 broadcast workflows, and can handle thousands of audio channels, depending on your computer.

This update is quite significant, too, as it adds a ton of new features, improvements, and bug fixes across its range of workflows.
