Exclusive first chapter peek at Adrian Tchaikovsky robot sci-fi

A robot gets a taste of freedom after murdering its owner in Adrian Tchaikovsky’s new sci-fi Service Model. Check out the brand new cover and read Chapter One here…

Genre legend Adrian Tchaikovsky is back with Service Model, a comedy sci-fi about robotic murder, rebellion and belonging, and not only are we delighted to reveal the cover (above) but we also exclusively have the first chapter right here at SciFiNow to enjoy!

But first, check out the official synopsis…

To fix the world they must break it – further.

Humanity is a dying breed, utterly reliant on artificial labour and service. When a domesticated robot gets a nasty little idea downloaded into its core programming, they murder their owner. The robot then also discovers they can do something else they never did before: they can run away. Fleeing the household, they enter a wider world they never knew existed: where the age-old hierarchy of humans at the top is disintegrating into ruins, and an entire robot ecosystem devoted to human wellbeing is having to find a new purpose.

We still have to wait until next June to read the novel, but in the meantime, we have Chapter One of the novel right here where you can meet robot Charles, who is busy working through his domestic chores until he realises a murder has occurred.
