Prime Video is proving itself by going by the book—or about the book—for some of its newest titles, including Every Year After, the new series based on Carley Fortune’s 2022 novel Every Summer After. Just like Fortune’s bestselling beach read, Every Year After welcomes fans to the Canadian lake town of Barry’s Bay, where Percy Fraser meets Florek brothers Sam and Charlie. Percy and Sam become instant friends, whose relationship develops into something more over several summers. However, viewers first meet Percy (Sadie Soverall) in the present-day, after having spent a decade away from Barry’s Bay and Sam (Matt Cornett), with a mysterious reason for her heartbreaking departure that unfolds over the course of eight scintillating episodes.
