Herbie Hancock and Erykah Badu are set to headline Penske Media Company’s second annual LA3C culture and creativity festival. The three-day event will take place from Nov. 10 to Nov. 12 at multiple venues across Downtown L.A.
LA3C, known in full as Los Angeles, Capital of Culture & Creativity, held its inaugural event last year, bringing together acts like Lil Baby, Snoop Dogg, Maluma and Megan Thee Stallion. This year, the festival is set to bring together some of music history’s most pivotal acts, from the emblematic Badu to jazz standard legend Hancock, record producer Flying Lotus to Grammy-award-winning Roots frontman Questlove.
The full lineup also includes Robert Glasper, Terrace Martin, Kamasi Washington, Marc Rebillet, Sudan Archives, Fred Armisen, Julie Byrne, Lonnie Holley, Aja Monet, Pauli the PSM, Novena Carmel, Shabazz Palaces, John Carroll Kirby, Yrsa Daley-Ward with the Josh Craig, Acyde, Siobhan Bell, Kilo Kish, Salami Rose Joe Louis and Def Rain.
Venues include the Theatre at the Ace Hotel, the Orpheum Theatre, the Palace Theatre and the Los Angeles Theatre, plus its surrounding lots.
LA3C 2023 will also host Marketplace on Main, a collection of more than 20 L.A. food vendors including Ek’Balam, Hotville Chicken, Loam, Canyon Coffee and Quarters, along with Bazaar on Broadway, a collaboration between L.A.’s Black Market Flea and In Sheep’s Clothing vinyl shop.
