So far, Emilia Clark has had nothing but great things to say about her time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the actress is a veteran of other popular franchises including “Game of Thrones”, “Star Wars”, and “Terminator”, she has made no secret of the fact that she has enjoyed Marvel the most.
Clarke joined the MCU for “Secret Invasion”, the Disney+ series that stars Samuel L. Jackson reprising his role as Nick Fury. In the show, Clarke plays the Skrull G’iah, a shape-shifting alien and daughter of Ben Medelsohn’s Talos.
An Almost Disastrous Experience
While everything went well during the filming of the series, Clarke revealed that the shoot was almost disastrous.
“I nearly ran [Jackson] over,” she said.
“They put me in a Lada, which is like a very old Russian car,” Clarke continues. “And I got in and I was like, ‘Hey, what’s with the six [shift knobs] up in here? Which one am I using? Why does it have 10 pedals?’ It’s [like] a tractor… I know how to drive. I know how to drive stick. [But there wasn’t] enough time. They’re saying, ‘We’ve gotta go. We’re shooting. Come on honey. Just go. We’re gonna go.’
“So I’m like, ‘OK, I can do this. It’s just one stop.’ Get in there. We get up to it. The camera is right there. Sam is right there. And I pressed the wrong thing, I pressed the accelerator rather than the brake.”
Luckily, Clarke found the brake just as quickly as she found the acceleration, and did not, in fact, mow down Jackson.
All’s Well That Ends Well
So, how did the Hollywood legend respond to the near-death experience?
“He was very gentlemanly and lovely and nice,” Clarke said.
“Then I cried a little bit and someone else drove it for me.”
Secret Invasion is now streaming on Disney+.
