After redeeming herself following the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the fate of Wanda Maximoff was left ambiguous.
The newly christened Scarlet Witch finally saw the error of her ways after her multiversal children were terrified of her. Returning to the MCU’s main timeline, Maximoff destroyed the temple dedicated to the Darkhold author Chthon, seemingly sacrificing herself.
Because Wanda isn’t shown again on-screen following the Darkhold destruction, fans have speculated about whether Scarlet Witch could have survived, and if so, when we would see her again.
With the WandaVision spin-off Agatha: Coven of Chaos on the horizon, it seemed like a Scarlet Witch return could be in the cards.
Olsen Hopes To Return, But There Is a Catch
While the actress has continued to publicly state that she would love to return to the role, in an interview with Good Morning America, Olsen stated that she has no contract with Marvel, and is thus not privy to any glimpse into Wanda’s future.
“So my no twist zone is ‘Yes I hope so.’ I have no idea. When I say that, it’s not because I have a loaded answer. It’s because I say, ‘Yes I hope so,’ and I mean it at face value,” she said.
When pressed by the Good Morning America hosts, however, Olsen admitted that she doesn’t even have a Marvel contract:
Roker: Have you started filming?
Olsen: Absolutely not.
Roker: Have you seen a script?
Olsen: No
Craig Melvin: Has there been a Zoom call?
Olsen: There’s no contract. There you go.
Could The Scarlet Witch Return?
So there you have it. While it doesn’t seem like Olsen will return to the MCU anytime soon, you never know.
With the actress willing to reprise her iconic role, would Marvel really throw away the opportunity to bring an Avenger back?
