Following last month’s announcement that Disney would begin culling shows from both Disney+ and Hulu, fans have worried about the future of their favorite streaming series.
While Disney has mostly limited these removals to Disney+ original series, some favorite shows such as “Willow”, “Big Shot” and “The Mysterious Benedict Society” were among the removed programs.

Although these original series may not have been as popular as Disney had hoped for, they still amassed legions of fans, who took to social media to voice their displeasure.
Perhaps more surprising than these limited series removals, was Disney’s willingness to axe shows related to the ever-popular Marvel Studios.

Earlier this month, we brought you the news that Marvel’s “Runaways” had been removed from the platform. Now, however, Disney has taken two more Marvel series off of Disney+.
What Was Removed
Marvel’s “Hero Project” and “Marvel’s 616” have both been taken off of Disney+. Both series were among the first Marvel content released on the platform.

“Marvel’s Hero Project” debuted with the rest of Disney+ on November 12, 2019. The series showcased real-life kids making a difference in their communities. These everyday heroes were even given their own Marvel comic book.
“Marvel’s 616” on the other hand was an eight-episode antholog series that dropped in November 2020. The show explored various Marvel-related topics including characters, creators, and fans.

While removing content from Disney+ may make good business sense, it is surprising that the company would remove any shows related to Marvel. The comic book franchise, along with Star Wars has been the major draw of Disney+ since its inception.

While it is possible that the shows return to streaming at some point, for now at least, there is nowhere to view removed content such as Marvel’s 616 and Hero Project.
