Loki will return to Disney+ earlier than expected when Season 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) show premieres on October 5 at 9 p.m. ET.
The God of Mischeif’s triumphant return was initially scheduled for a 3 a.m. ET release on October 6, but the premiere has been shifted up as part of Disney+’s new release strategy.
Disney Recreates Prime-Time Viewing
Disney first experimented with prime-time releases of its streaming shows with Ahsoka, which premieres Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. ET. The shift in release strategy has proven successful as Ahsoka has dominated the chatter on social media as soon as new episodes drop.
By shifting the release times of Disney+’s biggest shows, Disney is creating something akin to prime-time TV and appointment viewing. Additionally, it is easier for fans who were unable to watch the shows in the middle of the night, to avoid spoilers.
Hopefully, based on the success of Ahsoka, all big Disney+ releases will drop in prime time. It seems like a no-brainer.
‘Loki’ Breaks The Trend… Again
Interestingly, Loki was the first Disney+ series to release new episodes on Wednesdays, as former big releases such as WandaVision, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and The Mandalorian were released on Fridays. Now, Loki will once again buck the trend and move to Thursdays.
Season 2 of Loki will see Tom Hiddleston return as the God of Mischief. With the multiverse now unleashed, and Kang on the loose, Loki, Mobius, and the Time Variance Authority must band together to restore order.
Season 2 of Loki will debut on October 5.
