Happy Labor Day! Whether you traveled for vacation, relaxed at home, or unwound with a great movie, this weekend brought the unofficial end of summer.
Though the season is winding down, there was a lot happening on the movie front. Disney, Marvel, and Pixar still had plenty of reasons to celebrate at the box office.

Leading the way was Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which held onto the No. 1 spot for its sixth consecutive weekend.
The film featuring Tom Holland earned approximately $23.4 million over the four-day holiday weekend, with a domestic total past $900 million.
Spider-Man is now closing in on Star Wars: The Force Awakens and its $936 million domestic record. Worldwide, Brand New Day has already surpassed $2.33 billion.
Cars Races Back Into Theaters
Pixar also had a fun Labor Day surprise thanks to Lightning McQueen and friends!
Disney and Pixar’s Cars returned to theaters on September 4 as part of the film’s 20th anniversary celebration. The rerelease earned approximately $7.6 million over the four-day weekend. It landed at No. 6 at the domestic box office.
Twenty years later, a new generation is enjoying this Pixar favorite.
Toy Story 5

Another Pixar release also remained in theaters over the holiday weekend, though last a bit of momentum.
Toy Story 5 brought in approximately $924,000 during its 12th weekend of release. The latest adventure with Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the gang has now earned nearly $480 million domestically.
Between a record-breaking Spider-Man, the return of Cars, and Toy Story 5, Disney-related films had a strong presence as the 2026 summer movie season officially wound down.
