Disney+ Cancels The Mysterious Benedict Society

The Mysterious Benedict Society has been canceled at Disney+ after two seasons.

Co-creator and executive producer Phil Hay shared the news on Twitter, writing: “Dear friends- season 2 will mark the end of The Mysterious Benedict Society’s journey on Disney+. We love everyone who helped make this truly special and indeed life-affirming experience happen. No regrets- so proud of what we made … The beauty of streaming is that the show lives on Disney+ and you can find it whenever you want to visit. Spoiler alert for how the story ends: the kids stay friends forever.”

Based on Trenton Lee Stewart‘s children’s books, The Mysterious Benedict Society follows Mr. Benedict, a gifted and intelligent person, who enlists four children for a risky mission to infiltrate the Learning Institute for Veritas and Enlightenment (L.I.V.E.) on Nomansan Island during a global crisis known as “The Emergency.” Dr. L.D. Curtain, who runs the Institute, employs kids to transmit subconscious messages that allow him to implant ideas and concepts into people’s heads. To put an end to this evil behavior and protect the world from Dr. Curtain’s plots, Mr. Benedict sends the four children he has recruited into the Institute.

“Hard to say goodbye to the #MysteriousBenedictSociety, but so INCREDIBLY thankful to @disneytvstudios and @disneyplus for allowing us two seasons of this beautiful story written by Trenton Lee Stewart,” Tony Hale wrote on Instagram. “Thanks to all the top notch writers, producers, crew and cast…wonderful story, even more wonderful people.”
